Atlanta Trades: 81 Louis Williams $6,390,000 $7,500,000 $8,500,000 80 Elton Brand $2,100,000 71 Gustavo Ayon $1,500,000 $1,500,000 1st '14 (ATL) $9,990,000
for
Miami Trades: 80 Ray Allen $3,090,000 $3,229,000 76 Rashard Lewis $1,352,000 $1,400,000 71 Joel Anthony $3,750,000 $3,800,000 $3,800,000 $8,192,000
I accept. I gain scoring as well as an update at both my SG and SF positions. I had to give up a 1st in next years draft, but I am hoping my team does well. Williams is a lot younger than Allen. He has a lot more productive years in him.
toning down?? LOL Allen is getting a little dip down and also Lewis will definitely have a rating downgrade. and i think right now brand is better than lewis, + ill get a 1st round pick in return and its 2014 by the way, also ill trade away anthony's contract.
I wanted the scoring three point threats of Allen and Lewis. I have inside play in Horford and Millsap, I needed the outside scorers. Also, I dont really like Lou Williams. This trade allows me to cut a lot of cap for next season. Anthony will be involved in another trade eventually.
I think my team should be able to find a top 3 spot in the East and that would negate the value of that pick.
Plus I am not done working yet. I will have another 1st in '14 by the draft.
Homecourt or die trying!!

This is why trading for ratings at the expense of real-life value isn't a good idea, just a note to everyone. Ratings have always been updated in Ian's leagues kind of sporadically (when he gets time to do it), so trade for the player's real-life value, not his current rating.
I dunno guys, there's been lots of warnings that these rating changes were going to occur. Ray and Rashard have been on the list for months now. I don't really see how this was unforeseen.

Agreed with this, especially b/c Larry has been in D5 for awhile now. If he doesn't know how rating changes happen, he isn't paying any attention at all.
No offense Larry, but not sure why you would have thought ratings stay through the season, we have ongoing discussion all year and Ian (basically randomly, not at the end of the season or whatever) announces rating changes whenever he gets the time to do them.
I feel bad for Larry but I don't think he should get to back out of the trade, that's not in our rules. Always trade for a player's real-life value, ratings are a secondary or tertiary concern.
3 accepts already, he offered me this one so in my opinion when he made this trade i was thinking he was researching for the good of his team and as a GM i think you should be responsible for your actions.
i accepted this trade because i think this was the best move for my team.
You guys act like we make rating changes all the time. This stuff has been queued in the forums for months, and it is just randomly done whenever Ian gets motivated. We also never specified that the ratings from D5 are going to be transferred over to here. I was under the impression that we imported the ratings for this league from 2k or something.
We're acting like everyone knew this would happen except Atlanta, but I doubt the committee would have even passed this trade if they were aware of the rating changes. Larry is giving up a younger, higher rated player AND a 1st rounder. So either the committee was also misinformed, or a terrible decision was made to pass this trade. Either way, I think we should at least consider reevaluating it under these circumstances.

Even if there is a rule saying Larry can't back out, there's nothing saying a committee member can't change his vote.
Since I haven't voted yet, I reject. Walt hasn't voted either and it seems he was leaning the same way. That would be 3-2.
I urge Ian, Dominique, or Alex to consider changing your vote. There's no point in forcing someone to do a trade he doesn't want to do, especially when he has only changed his mind due to unforeseen circumstances arising after the posting of the trade. I also urge Troy to consider letting the trade die. We're here to have fun, not to force people into unwanted trades.

Well, Barber, yes, for 1, I would reject if it mattered. Once a trade has 3 accepts I was under the impression it passes, people can't change their votes after that (if they should be allowed to at all? Different discussion though).
A lot of what Josh says makes sense from one POV, but there is another side.
#1 - This is still D5. Even though it's D5*, when we came over here, it's pretty easy to assume it's going to be run very, very similarly, if not exactly the same, except Ian has said we have a sped up Sim schedule.
I really don't understand why someone would assume that rating changes would be a DIFFERENT process in this league when it is still Ian running the league? If it's still him, and he's still using Live 06 (which he told us he is), then one could assume rating changes will still happen the same way.
Well I am new here. And I do not know how things work. But it is plain to see that the group of people who built this league have a process set for the inner workings of the league. Starting a new league though seems to be different then the usual day-to-day. Sounds like we didn't know all the player ratings would be shared between leagues. I'm a bit confused about having guys on my Roster acquired during the 2013 off-season, but we are starting in the 12/13 season. So there are things that need more clarification.
I'm just throwing in my two cents here, but overall this type of league is about fairness and fun. This trade has not passed the sniff test simply because we are having this discussion. Which does lend itself to reevaluation. I'm not saying if the trade was fair or not, because it all depends on what each person involved with the trade was going for. But I don't think we should let a 3-approval process get in the way of what makes the most sense for the league and the parties involved.

I'm on the fence on this one. I think trading just for ratings is really shortsighted and that GMs have to know that at some point in time the ratings will be adjusted. It's just really unlucky for Larry that 'at some point in time' ended up being immediately. On the other side of the deal though, Elton Brand also deserves a decrease, and there is probably a decent argument that Louis Williams isn't actually worthy of his 81. Do we not factor that in as well?
However, given that the context has changed, the 1st round pick which I felt was simply unnecessary could now potentially be considered unfair. So I don't know, whether this is passed or gets a mercy death, I'm very neutral on this one.
PG - Goran Dragic | SG - Terrence Ross | SF - Maurice Harkless | PF - Enes Kanter | C - Jonas Valanciunas
Since I have not weighted in yet, which I am sure seems unusual to most , I will throw in my two cents. I think the trade should pass since three committee members accepted it, but I think the principal in the future should be to avoid looking at trades by the method illustrated below:
Not sure the 1st round pick is necessary, but whatever. I accept.
Not to pick on Alex but you should reject or wait to make a decision if you feel something even may be a little out of bounds. I also found it interesting Ian initially liked the trade for Miami when he said they "toned down their talent." While I worry a little bit about the first round pick myself, Ray Allen probably constitutes the best player in the deal and at least gives Atlanta something. On the other hand, he may retire after this year and this trade will result in Atlanta losing their 1st round pick, in the coveted 2014 draft, for nothing. Obviously, I would reject this deal if I served on the trade committee.
Having the 84 and 83 and reducing at the end of the year is different than them reducing now. They have gone a long time, no offense to Ian, without changing. How was I to know when they would reduce? Its also unfair to reduce Rashard and Ray and not touch Brand or Williams.
