As Kings caretakers, i accept this deal.
Since Cousins wont be traded anymore, i had to find a way deal away some bad contracts. I know most you think Landry and Thornton are good players, but i do not like them. I think there salaries are outrageous and with doing this deal, I get a good PG/SG. If plans go correctly, Williams will become the kings new SG.
With this trade, next season kings salary will be around 36 million, which is wonderful. With Bird rights i am able to sign Cousins so that means i will plan to use that cap space to sign other players before singing cousins to a big deal.
The draft picks is what sold me on this deal. I get two, 2014, and 2015 draft pick. It's always good to have multiple draft picks in a deep draft.
Finally, i do save additional 6 million in cap space, so now i can go out and sign some more free agents.
I know Thomas will have a nice re-rate after the season he is having but i feel that i might be able to land a better PG than Thomas. Do not want to tip my hat on who, but there is a plan in place.
I had a team that needed a lot. In this trade, I am able to trade a starting shooting guard for two young and talented point guards as well as two good role players in Landry and Thornton.
I did have to give up two of my 1st round picks. If I can built the kind of team, I think I am capable of doing this offseason. I think I have shot at going on a deep run in the playoffs. First round picks are a something to hang on to, unless you think they can help you win without choosing a youngster out of the draft. The '14 draft is really deep, and that pick may come back to bite me in the rear. I am willing to roll the dice, though.
IT2 is playing amazing IRL, but he's only rated at a 76 right now and he expires, there is every chance he does not return next year.
Greivis is cheap and has played very well in the past, IRL, but now he's behind Lowry and, although there is plenty of speculation on trades, Toronto is winning and may just keep Lowry. What becomes of Greivis then?
Then we have the negative values of Thompson and Thornton. They can be productive and good bench players but they are paid a lot for that role.
Two 1sts go the other way, plus Lou Williams who is pretty good. John Jenkins has a little talent but isn't playing a whole ton for the Hawks IRL, and Ayon is a good bench player, paid like a bench player.
I guess, all of that being said, I'm a little wary of Atlanta giving up TWO 1sts plus a good player and two good bench players for two PG's with funny values, the better of which may not re-sign with them next offseason.
You could definitely say that a good portion of IT2 and Greivis' values get deflated because of the negative contracts of Thompson and Thornton going that way.
I am leaning towards a reject, maybe if one of those picks gets taken out, but right now I'm leaning reject.
I may wait to see what the rest of the committee thinks, sorry for the delay guys.
I think it's possible the four best players in this trade are the four going to the Hawks. The pick won't be that great either, the Hawks won 45 games this year and the east is so bad the Al Horford alone could win like 20 games. I'm going to vote to reject.

The kings will be stuck in this middle of pack of sucking and winning. You guys can agree to disagree to what i am trying to do but we have two GM's who will stick by the team and are active. Walt issue is that i am getting to much and Alex issue is that hawks is getting to much lol.
I have seen worse trades gone through, and if you guys really are saying this is a bad trade, ill agree but i dont see how a backup PG, a PG who will leave in free agency next year, overrated SF and PF is not worth two 1st round pick and a over rated SG.
I get why the cousins trade was rejected but this honestly cannot be as bad as that can it?

This is another one of my issues with this trade. You are not actually the GM. I think for all those teams (Pistons, Sixers, Suns, Kings, etc.) the trade committee should be much more strict with trades since it heavily affects whether someone will be interested in being the GM for the team. The biggest assets the Kings get here are Louis Williams who's been pretty disapointing since joining the Hawks, a mid 1st round pick next year, and a pick for three years from now. For that the Kings give up four good players and a huge part of their rotation.

good players?
Landry: hasn't even player a game this year, and on a team like golden state, will he ever start again? Thornton: 8.0 points and 3.3 reb per game? and he's a 78?, he doesnt even play 30 minutes a game Thomas: only player who is decent here Vasques: coming over from toronto, has been limited to playing time, but he does have a great contract.
For Louis Williams - 9.0 points per game, 1.9 reb, 3.3 ast per game this year = overrated 1st rounder - 2014 - yes a mid draft pick, but if the kings lose a lot of games next year and get a top pick, wouldnt it be nice to also get another draft pick in a deep draft?
its weird because everyone doesn't want to deal there 1st rounder in 2014 because its a deep draft but then when someone trades it, its either a middle or late pick and not worth that much. Its a 1st rounder, there a lot of things that could happen with happen 1st rounders especially in a deep draft.
I dont disagree with you ,with being hard with the caretakers of those teams when trading, but wouldn't a rebuilding team want this deal? Why on earth would any GM want a team like this. If anything i am doing a great job here, getting some 1st rounders for players who are overrated and also cap space. I would of been lucky to get a 1st rounder for Thomas since hes a UFA next year but to say i got another one for Landry or Thornton? I would say pretty good.
Alex, no way are Marcus Thornton or Carl Landry better than Lou Williams.
That said I do agree that we need to pay close attention to these Caretaker teams. I'm worried someone might say "well, cool, I have this 2nd team now I can play around with, maybe take a little more of a chance than I normally would." That's not what you were saying Alex, just a small concern I had, theoretically, about the situation.
I could still say a lot about this deal, but I have already done that! The biggest thing is that IT2 expires, it really is hard to assign him that much value when he expires. But, he's playing so well! He's far and away the best piece here but there is just so little guarantee that he sticks around with the Hawks that it really hurts his trade value.
Overall, just my gut on all the different aspects of this trade, I am going to reject.
Sacramento already has about 8 million in cap this offseason, it's not great but can get at least one piece to build around long-term. Then, next offseason they have 15 million, PLUS another 7 million when they do not pick up Salmons' Team Option, although they may use some of that cap taken up if they sign a long-term guy this offseason. They can use that money first, then RE-SIGN Cousins and IT2, and be set up pretty well.
Just asked myself, if I were to take over the Kings, would I rather have IT2's bird rights or those two picks. I know there are cap issues involved but it's not like Sacramento doesn't have any cap, they will have like 22 million already.
We are at 2 rejects, 1 accept, and one trade committee member involved in the trade. Who else can vote on this? If the other person happens to vote to accept it, what happens then?
Usually when a CM is in the trade, the first side to 2 votes "wins". It looks like it will be rejected. Your best chance is if the last CM votes accept, and one of Alex or I changes our minds I guess.
Kings are giving up a lot of value here. Isaiah has been great this season, but his expiring contract negates his value a little bit. Just like the DMC trade though, if we take into account that Sacramento has bird rights on him, it changes the story.
IT by far has the most value out of anything in this deal. I'd say the second most value is the 2014 pick.
The Kings are kinda an exciting team with Isaiah and DMC. Atlanta was 5th in the East this league, so we can project the pick to be around 20. I'm not sure that's enough to give up an exciting young point guard.
It's also risky for Atlanta because he is going to have to pay out the ass to re-sign Isaiah. I just don't think trading a young, expiring player with bird rights can ever be that beneficial to either team. I'm gonna reject. Sorry guys
