I don't think it's a bad trade, it'd just be good to hear what you have in mind here. With your team being so weak right now I'm surprised you didn't search out some draft picks or something.

Could have gotten picks from other offers but would have had to take on a bad contract as well. Still shopping Afflalo and Big Baby so hoping to score a pick or two still.

I'm pretty mad that Orlando had to go the route of basically dumping Gay's salary. Not saying Manu isn't a good player, but he's getting older and is always getting injured, maybe partially because of his age and wear on his body.
Gay's contract is at least a few million too much per season, and it's a bummer he was thrown on that team w/o the consent of the new GM, b/c a different GM who was here long enough to make ONE post, which happened to be "accept", and then left the league.
I don't even want to vote on this trade, I think it makes sense for Orlando b/c Gay's contract is too big, but I hate that the Magic have now traded away 3 cheap, young, high potential players for Manu Ginobili on an expiring contract.

In fact I'm inclined to reject considering that's what this trade has now come down to. Youth, potential, cheap contracts being traded for Manu Ginobili on an expiring contract? The guy is talking about getting picks and is clearing salary out b/c he knows the Magic are not good enough to win, even with Gay.
Not putting in my vote yet but for the Magic franchise these two trades together make less than zero sense.
I'm obviously gonna advocate my own trade, but I don't think this should be looked at as Harris/Harkless/Nicholsen for Manu and Blatche. This is an entirely new trade with a new GM who is just making the best of the situation he inherited.

Barber, that is of course in my mind and is honestly the main reason I haven't actually put in an official Reject. It's not his fault he was dealt this hand, I'm just somewhat taking a stand on the larger issue.
What Walt's saying does concern me, but I think the main reason I don't feel like accepting this is because if Shaq is looking for picks - he's going to get the best ones whilst trading Rudy Gay.
Trading for an expiring Manu is just damage limitation, no?

I...will accept this as well. I was interested in Gay, but not for was being proposed. Gay's contract was the determining factor and I'm not sure anyone would give up a high 1st for $16M.
I don't really like this too much. Ginobili is 36 and his role has been reduced significantly. When he plays he is still efficient though but his career is clearly nearing it's end.
Compared to Gay who is 27 and for better or worse will be the #1 option on his team. Like most of his career we know he'll perform at level that's good but not great.

I am not even sure at this point what the deal is with CM's being in a trade, there are two Accepts, and then Alex and I both kind of don't like the trade.
I'm going to put in an official Reject. If Alex rejects as well, does it go to the league vote?

I don't think Shaq is making this deal because he wants Ginobili to be his #1 option

I'm big on Blatche too btw so this isn't a straight salary dump, hoping he signs a long contract with us in the offseason
Blatche was very efficient last season but he seems like kind of a head case. He's got some value though. I guess with Ginobili expiring it might be easier to move him for prospects/picks than Gay.
I'm not that big a fan of this but I can accept it.

On something that should never have gone through. I guess me taking a stand on this is just not going to amount to anything, Ian is just ignoring it so whatever. I'm just disappointed we let the Magic franchise take a huge hit right away and helped out our reigning EOTY when he doesn't need the help.

We sure are enjoying our share of controversy in this new league, half the trades are inspiring vitriol.
I agree with Walt but the new Magic GM seems to have his head screwed on properly, a lesser GM would not understand the value of an expiring contract and wouldn't have made a trade for one. Unless Shaq puts his draft picks on the block and proves me wrong I'm happy to stick with an accept.
