Exactly. If he plays well he gets resigned. If he doesn't we may still keep him. Also in year two he gets an option. I had the cap and had to make this offer to get him. I raised several times. It helps my team and it was worth it for a season at least.

That's great for your team, it allows you a lot of options. But it's not what I was getting at. I was implying that my offer, which had 4 guaranteed years and more opportunity for playing time, was better.
